Who We Are

To sell a wine, the experts say, create the story, seek quality, discover the location and find the point of difference.

Our story: The farm Dwarsrivier, home of Cederberg Private Cellar, has been in the Nieuwoudt family since 1893. David Nieuwoudt, third-generation winemaker, is a member of the prestigious Cape Winemaker's Guild.

Quality: Globally, Cederberg Private Cellar has collected every possible award, from the world's best shiraz to many a "best in its category" award.

Location: Our "wines with altitude" are produced in the Cape's highest-lying vineyards, in a cold climate without any coastal influences. A diverse range of soil types and the purest fountain water are some of the other magic ingredients.

Point of difference: The farm is virus free, which means no diseases and no spraying. It is surrounded by 183 000 ha of unspoilt wilderness, home to the Cape Leopard Trust and part of the Greater Cederberg Biodiversity Corridor.
