Who We Are

Since its establishment in 2000, BANKSETA has been widely regarded as one of the best Sector Education and Training Authorities (SETAs) in the country. Transformation forms a large component of its mandate, with the acceleration of social transformation through skills development as one of its guiding principles.

BANKSETA continues to devise innovative projects and interventions that meet the skills needs of the sector, enabling stakeholders to advance the national and global position of the broader banking and microfinance industry.

Some of the projects the Seta is involved with include:

• Supporting five Centres of Excellence throughout the country
• FAIS support and implementation through a e-learning portal
• New venture creation initiatives Career awareness to encourage new entrants to the sector
• Adult Basic Education and Training
• Small and micro enterprise support through various activities
• LETSEMA & KUYASA learnerships for unemployed school leavers and graduates
• Bridging the Gap programme aimed at people with disabilities
• International Executive Development Programme to accelerate the development of talented managers
• Certificate in Management Development for both the middle and junior levels of management
• Masters and Executive short courses
• Doctoral and postdoctoral programmes by funding industry-related research at higher education training institutions
