Who We Are

South African Qualifications Authority - Ensuring Quality Qualifications.

The South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) is a body set up by Parliament to oversee the further development and implementation of the National Qualifications Framework (NQF). The NQF is a comprehensive system for qualification and registration of quality-assured national qualifications.

SAQA's work ensures that SA has a national framework for learning and that all learners have access to quality-assured learning that will open up more learning opportunities irrespective of gender, race, background,
religion, geographic location or ability.

In this respect, SAQA's key deliverables are

• Registration of qualifications on the NQF

• Offering career advice services through a national helpline

• Informing the public about the NQF

• Collaborating with its international counterparts

• Verifications of learner acheivements

• Strengthening the National Learners' Records Database (NLRD). The NLRD enables SAQA to report accurately on different aspects of the education and training system of South Africa
