Lupesi Project

Express Employment Professionals supports many organisations on both international and local level. Our philanthropic committee designates funds to a variety of causes each year through our corporate giving program. Our corporate citizenship program supports the efforts of our franchisees to give to their preferred organisations in their local communities.

In order to address the overwhelming inequities recognised in South Africa, Express Employment Professionals began an initiative called Project Lupesi. By partnering with the Africa Foundation, Conservation Corporation Africa (CCAfrica), the Getty Foundation's Friends of Africa and the Bongani Lodge, Express Employment Professionals has been improving the lives of South Africans since 1998.

Gontse Primary School

Gontse Primary School started in 1998 in a very economically disadvantaged area in Soshanguve South (Extension 3) next to the city of Tshwane Industrial Centre (Rosslyn). Most of the learners could not afford to travel to other schools by bus or taxi as most parents are not employed. Three unemployed educators volunteered to teach 250 learners under the trees.

In 1999, Putco bus company donated four old buses that were utilised as classrooms.

In 2000 Safmarine through Memon Foundation of South Africa donated steel containers which were converted into ten classrooms. The school has grown to one thousand three hundred and twenty seven learners with thirty nine educators, three admin staff and six general assistants in 2011.

Bursaries were initiated by Mr Wesley Madziva from Express Employment Professionals. Learners with outstanding performance in Grade 7 are awarded with bursaries to continue with higher education.

Learnership Programme

During 2011 disabled learnership programmes to the value of R60 000 were initiated as well as an amount of R520 000 allocated to learnerships in the motor component manufacturing sector. 2% of our net profit was donated to orphanages and disadvantaged communities.

The Articulate Incompetent

15 Mar 2012

The Internet and digital age have given rise to a new phenomenon. There are people who know enough to be dangerous, not only to themselves but to you and me as well. Beware of the articulate incompetent. These are people who can talk a good game but have little or no experience at applying the newly found knowledge they espouse. With the ease of accessing a search engine and a brief period of focus, anyone can begin to convince you that they are an expert on anything.
