An interesting metaphor is likening job interviews to dating. Both are essentially short-term activities aimed at predicting long-term success: job performance or marital happiness. This would suggest that we often make important selection decisions, based on processes that are not necessarily accurate indicators of the actual long-term activities. Essentially however, the objective is the same: to ensure a constructive union between two parties that brings meaning and fulfilment through the achievement of shared goals.
