Lion of Africa Insurance Company, formed in August 1999, is an established, growing insurance brand on the South African insurance landscape. It represents a new breed of insurer, founded on the premise of transformation and the provision of insurance solutions for all South Africans.

Yabonga
Yabongo aims to bring about meaningful change in the lives of HIV positive women and their effected communities. Its objective is to promote positive and healthy living by improving self-esteem and prospects for work. The programme offers women the opportunity to train as peer educators giving them skills in HIV awareness, counselling and education. Lion of Africa Insurance views this initiative as a worthy cause and will continue to offer its support in the future.
Rally to Read
Lion staff travels to various schools in outlying regions to distribute educational material to teachers and students.
South African Actuaries Development Programme
The South African Actuaries Development Programme (SAADP) exists to nurture and develop black high school and university students to develop mathematical skills and ultimately qualify as actuaries (Lion of Africa participates on the Board of Directors of the SAADP, further demonstrating its commitment to the development of expertise amongst the previously disadvantaged youth of South Africa.
Woman's Day Yacht Race
The Company is the proud sponsor of the annual Lion of Africa Ladies Yacht Race. Hosted by the Royal Cape Yacht Club in Cape Town, the event remains the only existing female yacht race in Africa. The event has grown tremendously and in future might even incorporate a fund raising component. Further to this, a development team will be identified to participate in future races to develop interest in the sport amongst previously excluded communities on the Cape Flats and elsewhere.
Various other donations
The Company has donated a phototherapy machine and a Satis 3555 incubator to Groote Schuur Hospital, and supports many children homes and various other worthy causes.
