About us:
Borana lies at the foot of Mount Kenya; 6500 feet above sea level. Its unique geographical situation makes it a haven for a wide diversity of wildlife, birdlife and vegetation.
One of the best ways to see wildlife is on a guided bush walk. One of our experienced guides lead these hikes and give guests the benefit of their extensive knowledge of the bush and its ways. For equestrians, the best way to explore Borana and the surrounding conservation area is on horseback. Our horses are schooled to take guests on fun, relaxing rides, surprisingly close to wildlife so you experience the bush in a unique and magnificent way. Sleep in luxury at the lodge, and under canvas at the fly camp with the dawn chorus of the African bush awakening you.
During a good afternoon on Borana, we might see 23 different kinds of animals. Around 300 elephants roam freely across our land. We have a dozen matriarch cows with radio collars in the Laikipia area so that we can monitor their movements..

We at Borana are intent on contributing to environmental projects within our area. One of our key objectives is the preservation (conservation) of this incredible continent, its wildlife, habitat and the people that share the land.
Over three generations, our family has dedicated extensive time, energy and finance to conservation. This has been achieved in a number different ways, many of which you will see whilst visiting Borana. We intend to continue contributing significantly to this and our focus is on the following needs:
Education
Poverty alleviation and employment
Health
Habitat management
Wildlife conservation
A large portion of all revenue generated though Borana goes towards achieving these commitments in order to secure the long-term future of Africa.
