Who We Are

Du Métier® is a leading Forensic Engineering company that was formed to assist Transport companies, insurance companies, the legal profession and private clients, to establish the root cause of incidents/accidents for litigation purposes. Du Métier® is unique in the sense that it is the only investigation company that only uses investigators with technical tertiary qualifications, to ensure the best possible levels of service for technical investigations.

The company is was formed by Konrad W. Lötter (B.Eng (Mech.)), who served in the SAPS as Forensic Engineer for a period of eight years. He was involved in the investigation of more than 3500 cases during this period. He is currently the chairman of the Forensic Engineering Standards Generating Group (FESGG), which falls under ECSA and is tasked with the formulation of Standards for the Forensic Engineering industry in South Africa.

Du Métier supplies a wide range of service to the industry in term of Forensic investigations. This includes the investigation and reconstruction of motor vehicle collisions, the detailed investigation and analysis of aircraft accidents and the investigation of industrial and mining accidents/incidents. The investigations and the analysis thereof also includes the determination of all relevant contributory factors and recommendations regarding the minimising of risks in these environments.

Du Métier held a contract with the Department of Transport (initially) and later on with the Road Traffic Management Corporation for the investigation of serious accidents/collisions. Du Métier was also involved with the analysis of all heavy vehicle incidents in Potgieter Street in Pretoria in order to make recommendations for the safeguarding of the section of the highway leading into the city. Du Métier was also the sole supplier of of training for the Forensic Engineering section of the Forensic Science Laboratory in accident reconstruction.

Due to the very specialised nature of the field, Du Métier only have a very limited number of highly skilled specialists in their respective fields. For this reason the company falls under the classification of a very small enterprise and is therefore exempt from the general requirements. Despite this Du Métier is a major contributor to the empowerment of previously disadvantaged individuals through their training programmes and the majority of students who attend these course come from these backgrounds.
