Afrimat is mindful of the impact of its operations on the environment and is committed to minimising this as far as possible. The group has implemented procedures for identifying, eliminating and managing environmental issues, which are guided by a formal environmental policy. The policy is continually assessed for relevance and environmental consultants are employed to ensure the policy and practices are meeting regulations and requirements.
Environmental issues are further reinforced at safety meetings. In addition, Afrimat completes the Environmental Performance Assessments required every two years in line with mining licence EMPs.
Afrimat is continuously investigating ways to conserve energy, reduce fuel usage and conserve water. To facilitate this, the group upgraded equipment measuring energy usage in the past year.
