Investing in developing communities
Although we employ some 5 000 people we still feel duty bound to ensure the best possible future for all our ‘brothers and sisters' across the continent.
Our belief in these values are supported by the African philosophy of ‘Ubuntu' through which we have initiated sustainable CSI projects, training and empowering local people by providing company care, mentorship, skills training and work experience, especially in the communities our staff live in, and delivering social responsibility projects to areas previously deemed disadvantaged.
One of Powertech's CSI projects is assisting in the development of the Centre for Specialised Services in Hillbrow by providing much needed products. Once renovations are complete this centre will care for maternal and child health and offer guidance and treatment for those suffering from HIV/Aids and TB. Amongst other services the Centre will train health care providers, community workers and researchers who will conduct research into HIV prevention and life management, infectious diseases, reproductive health and social sciences which are all relevant to the African continent.
Powertech's first rule of sustainability is: in order to succeed you must obtain the support of the local communities and align yourself with both the social and natural environment you are working in.
Protection of the eco-environment is one of the latest in corporate buzz words. Yet, as an innovative energy company we have been recycling, as an example lead batteries, for decades. Designing any new product for healthy sustainability requires the vision to evaluate the long-term effects of environmental impact at every point of a product's lifespan, a gift of vision Powertech has in abundance.
From renewable sustainable energy to off-grid applications, green cables, blown fibre technology, solar-powered traffic grids to the new intelligent energy management module used in conjunction with the Enermax meters, we enable clients to see where and how to cut energy consumption costs. All will sufficiently lower our customers' carbon footprint in using electricity, natural gas and chemical consumption. A green, more viable future is no longer simply a vision, for we are already living it at Powertech.
Powertech's success comes from our innovative ideas, pioneering technology and most importantly, our people. Recently we have been awarded the status of a level 3 BBBEE contributor, equivalent to an AA rating in terms of the dti Codes of Good Practice. This serves as proof of our passion and drive to keep Powertech strong, to the power of three.
Powertech has an abundance of power pulsing from our multi-national network, servicing clients across the globe. Our people are the heart of the company and vital to our success. This is why we set out to uplift and empower our human capital through our commitment towards ongoing transformation in the African workplace.
We will continue to pioneer, develop and invest in people by providing solutions for tomorrow with the power of our people today.
