Who We Are

The Richards Bay Industrial Development Zone (Pty) Ltd offers greenfield investment opportunities worth more than R10 billion in the following four broad categories:

• Abundant Raw Materials i.e. heavy minerals, pine (more suited and used for timber logging, furniture and structural timber), eucalyptus (gum) and wattle trees (more suited and used for pulp and paper production).
• Processed and intermediate goods ranging from titanium products containing ilmenite and rutile grades of titanium, timber comprising aluminium ingots and alloyed billets, high purity pig iron and zircon, chemicals, sulphuric and phosphoric acid as well as granular phosphoric fertilisers.
• Materials exported through the Port of Richards Bay such as untreated granite blocks.
• Various manufacturing sub-sectors i.e. drawing hot molten aluminium from BHP Billiton's Hillside Smelter for production of aluminium powders, sintered aluminium powder metallurgy products, drawing titanium slag from RBM for production of titanium dioxide, titanium slag and ferrochrome, timber beneficiation to produce wood pulp, paper, furniture, masonite boards and bio-fuel products.
