What is all the hype about corporate social responsibility? Bottom line is that business is arguably the most powerful institution in our society. Ranging from the small store owner to the corporate giants, business is responsible and accountable for the impact they have on society . Improving the quality of life of the work force and their families as well as the local communities, have real and tangible results. It's simple - a better society creates a better environment for business. It's not just about doing the right thing, it's about behaving responsibly and being accountable. Cold Press Media is proud to support a variety of NGO's that we feel are truly trying to make a difference in the lives of others. Our philosophy is to help those who actively and unselfishly try to uplift and empower sustainable differences in the lives of those less fortunate. It takes one person to make a change in the life of another; donating food, clothing, books, computers and furniture can aid growth within communities. Sharing skills and knowledge however is the true key to making a sustainable difference - By helping communities to help themselves. There are many ways to get involved. Support a local charity or sponsor an event. Set the benchmark for other businesses to try and live up to your reputation. Corporates like Avis and Nedbank have certainly set the bar for true human and environmental betterment. We are certainly proud to be associated with them. Harry Oppenheimer, one of SA's prominent businessmen stated "Just as a large company seeks to conserve it's assets and it's future survival by reinvesting part of it's profits, so it should seek to conserve and improve the social environment in which it does business, in the hope that it will be able to continue to do business in the future preferably in a better environment that it has at present. Give back to the community in the true South African spirit of Ubuntu!!! |
